I haven't blogged in awhile, I wasn't sure if I would bother writing while we were home. We have been home five weeks now,and the American southwest seems so far away. Although we haven't had any snow, frost or hail on our part of the island, the temperatures have been below normal every day for all of April.
I have been busy in the garden, raking, trimming, and weeding. This is probably my favorite time of the year, I love the spring flowers and the trees as they begin to open their leaves.
These tulips are growing in the driveway, I have move flowers bed around so often, there is always something growing in an odd place.
The little white flowers are fawn lilies they grow wild here and are always blooming at Easter.
Skip has been busy renovating the kitchen, it is a big job which will take several months as he will be making all the cabinets. The first step was taking out all the lower cabinets, finding a place for all the stuff in them was a challenge.
The cabinets are gone, the old flooring is ripped up, new sub floor going down.
The goal is to have the new flooring down by the weekend, there will be ten of us for dinner on Sunday, it
won't be very fancy or traditional but it will be family together and that's what is important.
Al and Kelly our blogging friends we met at Borrego this year, lost one of their dogs yesterday. We met
Checkers, Max and Cora ( aka Motormouse ) it was so obvious how loved they all were and how they were family. Checkers will be missed by all the Bayfield Bunch. Our animals become part of us,and it is like losing a little piece of your heart when they leave us.

Good to hear from you. The bursting spring buds are so encouraging. It's such a big pain in the neck to remodel, but oh so much fun when it's done.
ReplyDeletegood luck with the renovations!..always a 'fun time'!!
ReplyDeleteOh I remember when I renovated my house all the cupboards had to be empty. It was really hard to find new places for everything! Most things ended up on my kitchen table.
ReplyDeletepretty pictures!
Cheers!
