A Hike to The Toadstools

Yesterday we drove to the  BLM office at Big Water, a few miles down the highway. Lone Rock where we have been staying is actually in Utah, but the Arizona state line is about half a mile away. Page AZ is nine  miles  south and Big Water is about nine miles north in Utah. The BLM office has a big dinosaur exhibit.

this exhibit, shows a dig, where they found the remains of a dinosaur 20 miles from the visitors center.IMG_2614

This is what it looked like size wise.

The BLM  oversees the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, which encompasses 1.9 million acres.

After  we left the visitors center we drove to the trail head of the path to the Toadstools.

Some pictures along the way

The contrast in the colours of the surrounding rocks was amazing.

Louie likes to sleep in the toy box. He got the pillow, but he couldn’t manage the blanket.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, our UPS parcel  should be delivered to the office in Page, if it is here early enough we will head to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Otherwise we will leave Thursday. I checked the weather and the days are supposed to be in the mid sixties going down to just above freezing at night. Sure are glad we have the propane heater, we bought in Quartzite last winter.

We are so glad we came to Utah, we have enjoyed every stop, from Zion, to Bryce Canyon to Lone Rock. We will come here again.
